Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network and Security Engineer to provide offshore support for our global IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and securing network systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with security policies. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and working closely with onshore teams to maintain a resilient and secure environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Management:
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot FortiNet network infrastructure, including FortiGate firewalls and FortiNet switches.
- Manage and optimize HPE Aruba Wireless Access Points (WAP) to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Administer LAN/WAN, VPN, and SD-WAN solutions for secure remote access.
- Ensure high availability and performance of network infrastructure.
Security Operations:
- Implement and manage FortiGate firewalls, ensuring compliance with security policies.
- Perform continuous security monitoring using Splunk and Azure Sentinel to detect and respond to threats.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and remediation using Tenable.
- Monitor and improve third-party risk management using BitSight.
- Support security awareness initiatives and phishing simulations via KnowBe4.
Incident Response & Monitoring:
- Investigate security incidents, analyze logs, and take corrective actions using SIEM tools (Splunk, Azure Sentinel).
- Provide Level 2/3 support for network and security-related issues.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for security controls, network configurations, and response procedures.
Compliance & Best Practices:
- Ensure adherence to industry standards (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS benchmarks).
- Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity threats and recommend improvements.
- Assist in internal and external security audits.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with global IT teams to align network and security strategies.
- Participate in regular team meetings and provide updates on projects and incidents.
- Document network and security incidents, processes, and resolutions.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
- 4–8 years of experience in network and security engineering.
- Hands-on experience with FortiNet (FortiGate firewalls, FortiNet switches), HPE Aruba WAPs, Splunk, Azure Sentinel, BitSight, Tenable, KnowBe4.
- Experience in cloud security (Azure, AWS) is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF).
- Experience with firewall rule management, VPN configurations, and network segmentation.
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, Azure Sentinel) for log analysis and incident detection.
- Familiarity with BitSight for cybersecurity ratings and risk management.
- Hands-on experience with KnowBe4 for security awareness training.
- Experience with vulnerability management tools (Tenable, Nessus, Qualys).
- Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Relevant certifications in the area of Network and Security, preferably FortiNet
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Working Hours:
- Flexibility to support US time zones as needed.
